  15. I have a bidirectional port monitor running on /dev/term/a under Solaris 2.4
  16. that dies when kermit connects on an outbound call.  Although kermit 
  17. functions fine thereafter, users cannot subsequently dialin on the 
  18. affected port.  Specifically, I see a cascade of messages in 
  19. /var/saf/zsmon/log that an open on /dev/term/a has failed, and that 
  20. ttymon is respawning too rapidly.  I see no such behavior if I, say, 
  21. use tip to direct-dial the outbound call.

  23. What exactly is happening in this case and what can I do to correct the 
  24. problem?
